Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Brazil Safe Travel application and related services (collectively, the "App" or "Service"). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using Brazil Safe Travel, you agree to these Terms.

1. About Brazil Safe Travel

Brazil Safe Travel ("BST") is an informational travel safety application designed to help travelers understand common theft risks, scam patterns, practical safety guidance, and area-based risk context while visiting Brazil.

BST is intended to support travel awareness and trip preparation. It is not a law enforcement service, private security service, emergency response service, or a guarantee of personal safety.

2. Eligibility and Acceptable Use

You may use the App only in compliance with applicable law. You agree to use BST for lawful, personal, and informational purposes only.

You may not:

• use the App in violation of any law or regulation;
• interfere with, disrupt, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App or related systems;
• copy, reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to extract source code from the App except where such restriction is prohibited by law;
• misuse the App in a way that could harm other users, third parties, or the integrity of the Service.

3. Safety Guidance and Map Information

BST provides contextual guidance, educational content, and map-based visual indicators intended to help travelers make more informed decisions.

All demarcated areas shown on the map are based on public data, publicly reported incidents, and news sources collected and reviewed between 2024 and 2026. These map areas are intended for informational awareness only.

You acknowledge and agree that:

• map areas are not real-time crime feeds;
• map areas may be incomplete, generalized, delayed, inaccurate, or outdated;
• conditions on the ground can change quickly and may differ from what appears in the App;
• no map overlay, recommendation, or alert should be treated as a guarantee that a location is safe or unsafe.

You remain solely responsible for your travel decisions, route choices, personal judgment, and on-the-ground safety precautions.

4. No Emergency or Official Government Service

BST is not an emergency service and does not contact police, medical responders, embassies, or local authorities on your behalf.

If you are in immediate danger or need urgent help, contact local emergency services, law enforcement, your embassy or consulate, or other official authorities directly.

5. No User Data Storage and No Location Storage

BST is designed so that it does not store personal user data or the user's location history as part of normal app operation.

In particular:

• BST does not maintain user profiles containing personal travel history;
• BST does not store your live location on our servers;
• BST does not store historical location logs for later tracking or profiling.

If location access is used by the App on your device, that access is used only to provide local in-app functionality and contextual awareness. Your location is not stored by BST as a persistent user record.

6. Informational Use Only

The App and all content made available through it, including map indicators, guidance text, checklists, articles, and recommendations, are provided for general informational purposes only.

BST does not provide legal advice, security advice tailored to your circumstances, medical advice, immigration advice, or professional emergency planning services.

7. Third-Party Information and Sources

BST may rely on or reference public reports, press coverage, open data sources, map providers, operating system services, and third-party content.

We do not control third-party sources and do not warrant that any third-party information is complete, accurate, current, or suitable for your specific situation.

Links to third-party websites or services are provided for convenience only and do not imply endorsement.

8. Updates, Availability, and Changes to the App

We may update, improve, modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature of the App at any time, with or without notice.

We do not guarantee that the App will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device, operating system version, or network condition.

9. Intellectual Property

The App, including its software, design, branding, text, graphics, and other content, is owned by or licensed to Brazil Safe Travel and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

These Terms grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for its intended purpose. No ownership rights are transferred to you.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

WITHOUT LIMITATION, WE DISCLAIM ANY WARRANTIES OF ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, AVAILABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR THAT THE APP WILL PREVENT LOSS, THEFT, FRAUD, OR OTHER HARM.

11. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BRAZIL SAFE TRAVEL AND ITS OPERATORS, AFFILIATES, LICENSORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF SAFETY, OPPORTUNITY, BUSINESS, REVENUE, PROFITS, GOODWILL, DATA, OR TRAVEL EXPENSES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE APP.

THIS LIMITATION APPLIES EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Brazil Safe Travel and its operators from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses arising out of your misuse of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of applicable law.

13. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms or used the Service in an abusive, unlawful, or harmful manner.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date shown on the Terms page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction in which the operator of Brazil Safe Travel is established, unless mandatory consumer protection laws require otherwise.
